Terms and conditions
These terms govern your use of Header Genie and headergenie.com. By creating an account, buying Pro, or using the plugin, you agree to them.
Effective 18 September 2026.
1. Who we are
Header Genie is the WordPress security-headers product operated from https://headergenie.com (“we”, “us”). These terms are a contract between you and us. Questions about the service can be raised from your account after you sign in.
2. The service
Header Genie helps WordPress sites send HTTP security headers (including Content-Security-Policy and related controls) from PHP, without relying on .htaccess. The free plugin features are available without a licence. Pro unlocks paid features described on this site, including CSP tools, isolation headers, and monitoring, for one WordPress site per licence.
Scanner grades such as SecurityHeaders.com or Mozilla Observatory depend on your host, theme, plugins, and CDN as well as Header Genie. We do not guarantee any particular grade.
3. Accounts
You must provide an accurate email address and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend or close an account that is abused, unpaid, or used in a way that harms the service or other customers.
4. Pro subscription
Pro is a paid subscription with these commercial terms:
- Price: £49 per year, unless a different price is shown at checkout.
- One active Pro licence is for one WordPress site.
- The term is 12 months from purchase or renewal.
- It auto-renews at the then-current price unless you cancel in time.
- To stop the next charge you must cancel at least 30 days before the renewal date, from your account page or the Stripe customer portal.
- If you cancel in time, access continues until the end of the paid term. We do not pro-rate unused time unless the law requires it.
Card payments are taken by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. Taxes, if applicable, are added at checkout.
5. Digital content and cooling-off
Pro is digital content supplied as soon as payment succeeds (your licence key is issued for use on WordPress). By completing checkout you ask us to start the service immediately and acknowledge that you lose the usual 14-day consumer cooling-off right for digital content once the key is made available, to the extent UK law allows. That does not affect your right to cancel auto-renewal on 30 days’ notice as set out above, or any other right that cannot be excluded.
6. Licence grant
Subject to these terms and a valid Pro subscription, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Header Genie Pro on one WordPress site. You must not resell, sublicence, share, or publish the licence key, or use one key on multiple production sites. The plugin software remains ours (and our licensors’). You keep ownership of your WordPress site and content.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- probe, disrupt, or overload our APIs, licence servers, or this website except with our written permission;
- circumvent licence checks or security controls;
- use the service for unlawful content or to hide illegal activity;
- misrepresent scanner results or our relationship with third-party grading tools.
8. Support and changes
We may update the plugin, APIs, and this website. We will try not to break a current Pro term, but features can change as browsers and WordPress change. We may refuse support where the site is badly misconfigured, runs pirated software, or is on an unsupported WordPress version.
9. Availability
We aim to keep licence validation, this website, and account access available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance, hosting faults, and third-party outages (including Stripe) can affect access.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that UK law does not allow us to limit. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, reputational harm, or indirect or consequential loss. For consumers, we supply the service with reasonable care and skill. For business customers, our total liability in a 12-month period is limited to the Pro fees you paid us in that period.
You remain responsible for backing up WordPress, testing headers on staging, and the security of your own servers.
11. Termination
You may stop using the free plugin at any time. You may cancel Pro as described in section 4. We may end a licence immediately if you materially breach these terms or if payment fails and is not resolved. On expiry or termination, Pro features may stop; free features may still work if the plugin remains installed.
12. Privacy
How we use personal data is described in our privacy policy.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that consumers may also bring claims in their home courts where the law allows.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms by publishing a new version on this page. Material changes to a paid term will be notified using the email on your account where practicable. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance of the new terms, except where the law requires your explicit consent.
